With that first pitch ball, Ervin Santana started the 2018 Twins season. Twins Territory is praying for more of 2015, less of 2016, and at most optimistic preferably more of the 30th anniversary 1987 Twins. 😉 To celebrate, I bought some retail packages of Heritage, and the free Series 1 packs that come with them. :). But first some H. stats:
- 3 Twins pulled. Eduardo Escobar, Jorge Polanco, and new #ValenTwins Jason Castro.
- 6 “1968 Game” cards – three rookies/three non-rookies
- 15 team cards pulled
- 7 All-Topps selections
- 3 rookie stars(including Cecchini, Bregman)
- 4 league leaders
- 2 New Age Performers
- 1 Baseball Flashbacks
- 4 World Series cards including two “Cubs Fly The W!”
So let’s see them!
1968 “Game” cards. Hunter Renfroe and Carlos Correa pictured. We also pulled Josh Bell, and Luke Weaver for the rookies, with Gary Sanchez and Aldemys Diaz for the non-rookies not being shown.
High-numbered short-prints. Not bad for < 35$ of retail product, though I obviously wish I’d have pulled #436, Miguel Sano. Especially after that wallop of a home run! No doubter gone.
Pitching Leaders without spelling errors – no Lonberg/Lonborg here. No Twins on these leaders board either…
Some assorted inserts, and the aforementioned Cubs World Series card. How great was McCovey in 1968? He only led the NL in homers, RBIs, slugging, and led MLB in OPS, to finishing third in the year-end MVP balloting. Not a bad choice for a flashback card. Onto the S1 free packs.
The Cubs counter-part in the World Series, Terry Francona would be a welcome streak-breaker in Minnesota. Jus’ sayin’.
Oh, and these two I needed to rediscover, apparently. #ThanksTopps.
Pat Howell 1993 stats: Traded 11/18/1992 to the Twins for Darren Reed. Spent the year in AAA: 114 games/77 hits/11 doubles/3 triples/2 home runs/29 RBIs/36 stolen bases/.209/.234/.271 hitter. Kinda, sorta, a Twin, but Nope.
Alex Trevino 1985 stats: 57 games/34 hits/10 doubles/1 triple/6 home runs/19 RBIs/.217/.303/.408 hitter. Nope.
Oh, and the Twins won today.Thank you Kansas City. :).
